Xcel Energy proposes 19% electricity rate hike in North Dakota
North Dakotans could soon face the largest electricity rate increase in state history. Xcel Energy is asking regulators to approve a 19.34% hike, which would add about $270 a year to the average household bill and boost company revenues by $44.5 million. The request stems from infrastructure investments, nuclear plant updates, and the closure of a major coal facility in Minnesota.
