State says North Dakota Beef Commission lawsuit should be dismissed
Independent ranchers are challenging how North Dakota’s Beef Commission is run, arguing the system gives too much power to big cattle associations and leaves smaller producers without a voice. Their lawsuit claims the governor’s appointments unfairly favor Stockmen’s Association members, while rules tied to refund requests exclude many independents. The state has asked a judge to dismiss the case, saying it’s both untimely and unfounded.
