In Brandon, Sculpture Garden grows with community support and artistic vision
The Riverbank Discovery Centre in Brandon has a new addition that blends art with nature’s beauty. A pair of nesting blue herons, cast in bronze by sculptor Peter Sawatzky, now overlook the pond as part of the growing sculpture garden. The piece, titled Wetland Lovebirds, was made possible by a generous $160,000 donation from Sylvia Barr, whose support has helped carry the project forward. With six sculptures now installed, the Riverbank is steadily building toward its vision of a 16-piece outdoor art trail.
