North Dakota banned cellphones in schools this year, and two months in, the sky hasn’t fallen. Governor Armstrong saw what parents and teachers already knew: students are more anxious, less focused, constantly distracted. Similar bans show improved test scores and engagement—Florida’s results made national news. Some parents worry about emergencies, but schools still have phones. The real question isn’t whether kids can survive a few hours without devices. It’s whether we’re ready to admit they’re better off without them. So far, no howls of discontent.
