The North Dakota Republican Party just censured their own wildly popular governor—twice—while giving a free pass to lawmakers who’ve made anti-Semitic posts and hurled homophobic slurs at police officers. Let that sink in for a moment. Gov. Kelly Armstrong, who earned nearly 70% of the vote and outpolled Donald Trump himself, got formally reprimanded for backing property tax reform and vetoing a book ban bill. Meanwhile, the party’s new leadership sees no problem with truly offensive behavior from other Republicans. It’s a perfect snapshot of a party faction so out of touch with actual voters that they’re now at war with their own most successful politicians. Rob Port with InForum has the full story.
