In places like Sioux Falls, Fargo and Moorhead, downtown is the city’s heartbeat, Why Not Minot, too?

Downtowns are the heartbeats of our cities, and in places like Fargo, Moorhead, and Sioux Falls, they’re showing what thoughtful development can achieve. Each city is reshaping its core, blending business, art, and community spaces to create vibrant, walkable environments. In Fargo, the new Bell Tower stands tall, supporting local businesses. Across the river in Moorhead, the old mall makes way for culture and connection. Meanwhile, Sioux Falls welcomes The Steel District, revitalizing its urban landscape. These changes promise not just new buildings but a renewed sense of community pride.

That’s the perspective of Carrie McDermott writing for Inforum; it’s well worth reading. In Minot, our downtown engine is lurching to life with investments that haven’t been seen in generations. The parking garages and the current hiccup with the Big M project give the “knockers” an easy target, but for everyone that doesn’t have a splinter in their eye, the progress and impact is easy to see.

Curio : A new type of content. It's not "news" and it's not "commentary," it may not even be about Minot. But whatever it is, Minot may need it or you may enjoy it!
