Downtown Grand Forks is on the brink of a parking revolution aimed at bringing order and savings to the city. The City Council has greenlit a shift in enforcement, entrusting Interstate Parking with the reins to ensure consistent rules are upheld. Previously, the police juggled this task, but now a dedicated presence promises regular oversight. This change not only streamlines operations and reassures business owners, but it is also a cost-effective alternative. As Grand Forks grows, parking management is key to supporting its bustling core.

This is a problem that plagues all of North Dakota’s cities. It’s because North Dakota is the only state in the country that has socialized parking. The State of North Dakota, through quasi-endorsed Century Code, forces cities to provide free parking on public streets. There’s no such thing as free lunch, but free parking, yes!
