Bismarck bridge preservation group denied state hearing, continues

A citizen-led group in Bismarck hoping to save and repurpose the historic rail bridge across the Missouri River was denied a hearing in front of the state’s Department of Environmental Quality. It’s one step in what may be shaping up to be an exhaustive legal process required to remove the bridge. BNSF requires additional permits to build a modern bridge directly adjacent to the existing bridge.

This story will get regular updates on The Minot Voice as we’re currently tracking toward removing our own historic railroad bridge here in Minot. The Ann Street Bridge, Minot’s 113-year-old pedestrian viaduct connecting North Minot to downtown is currently closed due to disrepair and neglect and has an uncertain future.
