Injury Crash on Icy Williams County Road Under Investigation

A serious crash involving two commercial trucks occurred on January 10, 2025, at approximately 9:06 AM, just one mile south of Grenora on Williams County Road 5. The collision, attributed to treacherous icy road conditions, resulted in one driver sustaining serious injuries.

Hunter McLean, 27, of Williston, ND, was driving a 2015 Freightliner truck northbound when he encountered a 2020 Kenworth semi, driven by 58-year-old Anthony Brumfield, also of Williston. Brumfield had slowed to make a left turn into a disposal site. As McLean crested a small hill, he attempted to brake but slid on the ice-covered roadway, colliding with the rear of the Kenworth’s trailer.

McLean was transported to CHI St. Alexius Health in Williston with serious injuries, while Brumfield sustained minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. A section of County Road 5 remained closed for about nine hours as emergency responders from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Williams County Sheriff’s Office, Grenora Fire Department, and local ambulance services cleared the scene.
