Iowa company finds use for discarded wind turbine blades
What happens to a wind turbine blade when its 20-year life is up? For too long, the answer was the landfill. Now, an Iowa company has turned that waste into building blocks—literally. Renewablade grinds up retired blades and mixes them into concrete for walls, barriers, and ag bunkers. A new retaining wall in downtown Des Moines shows the idea in action.
