Domestic Violence Incident in NW Minot Leads to Arrest

On Oct. 11, at approximately 11:19 p.m., the Minot Police Department was dispatched to a northwest Minot residence for a report of a physical domestic incident.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, Jane Doe. Doe’s initial report stated that the suspect, Michael Christopher Kantack, 39, of Minot, had allegedly strangled her and held a knife to her throat while threatening to harm her and her four children.

During the course of investigation, probable cause was established to arrest Kantack.

Kantack was arrested for the following charges:

  • Domestic violence serious bodily injury – C Felony
  • Terrorizing – C Felony – Five Counts
  • Interference with telephone during an emergency call – C Felony
  • Preventing arrest – C Felony

Kantack was transported to the Ward County Jail without further incident.
