Minot Man Arrested for Child Endangerment After Infant Tests Positive for Methamphetamine

A Minot man was arrested following an investigation into drug exposure involving a four-month-old child who tested positive for methamphetamine, according to a statement released by the Minot Police Department on June 25, 2025.

The investigation began on June 19, when Ward County Child Protective Services contacted the Minot Police Department after the child tested positive for methamphetamine through a hair follicle test. The test was prompted by a traffic stop conducted by the Williams County Sheriff’s Department, during which methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were discovered in the vehicle. The child, referred to as Jane Doe, was present during the stop and was immediately placed in CPS custody.

Minot Police investigators interviewed both parents. During questioning, the child’s father, 26-year-old George Ralph Odom of Minot, admitted to using methamphetamine inside their home and vehicle while the child was present.

An arrest warrant for Odom was issued on June 24 for Endangerment of a Child or Vulnerable Adult, a Class C felony. On June 25, officers located Odom in a parking lot in southeast Minot. He attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended shortly after and taken into custody without further incident.

Odom was transported to the Ward County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
