Minot Police Officers Honored with Medal of Honor for Bravery in Shooting Incident

Two officers from the Minot Police Department have been awarded the Medal of Honor by the North Dakota Chiefs of Police Association. Officers Cullen Hall and Tyler Burtch received the recognition for their actions during an officer-involved shooting in October 2024.
The Medal of Honor is the highest accolade the association can bestow and is reserved for officers who demonstrate exceptional courage in the line of duty, particularly when facing imminent danger. According to the department, Hall and Burtch’s response during the incident reflected the highest standards of law enforcement professionalism and bravery.
Interim Chief Dale Plessas assisted in presenting the awards during the ceremony held on June 25, 2025.
