North Dakota Joins National Push to Ban Deadly “Designer Xanax”
Kentucky’s governor has banned “designer Xanax” after a surge of overdose deaths, and North Dakota is among 20 other states pushing for a nationwide crackdown. Attorney General Drew Wrigley joined a coalition urging the DEA to classify bromazolam as a Schedule 1 substance, warning that the potent synthetic drug is often sold as legitimate medication. Nearly 50 deaths in Kentucky alone were linked to it last year. Officials say swift action is needed before the drug spreads further across state lines.
