GRAND FORKS — The University of North Dakota’s Frozen Force flying team has soared to the top of the intercollegiate division in the 2025 Air Race Classic, marking a historic first-time win for the UND program in this renowned competition for female pilots.

This year’s race spanned from Fairhope, Alabama, to Spokane, Washington, and included more than 40 teams nationwide, with 18 competing in the collegiate division. Representing UND were pilot Helena Lind, co-pilot Charlotte Fuller, navigator Caroline Kelley, and ground coordinator Aubrey Baril. The team was coached by Katia Peters and Antonia Wagener.

Held annually, the Air Race Classic traces its roots to 1929 and continues to honor the legacy of pioneering women in aviation. Organized by the nonprofit Air Race Classic Inc., the event promotes awareness of general aviation, provides educational opportunities for women pilots, and showcases their growing role in the industry.
