Wrong-Way Driver Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 83

WARD COUNTY — A head-on collision late Thursday night claimed the life of one driver and left three others seriously injured on U.S. Highway 83 north of Max, North Dakota.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 11:15 p.m. on May 29 at mile marker 175. A 2000 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south in the northbound lanes when it struck a 2023 Ford F250 towing a trailer. The driver of the Silverado died at the scene.

The driver and two passengers in the Ford F250 — a 31-year-old man, a 30-year-old woman, and a juvenile, all from Williston — sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to Trinity Health Hospital in Minot.

Authorities are investigating the identity of the Silverado driver and urge anyone with information to contact the Highway Patrol at 701-328-2447, referencing case number 2025003501.
