North Dakota DOT named finalist for national transportation award
North Dakota’s effort to stop deadly wrong-way crashes is earning national attention. The state Department of Transportation is a finalist in the America’s Transportation Awards for its “Wrong Way Detection Project,” which uses cameras and flashing LED signs to alert drivers and law enforcement when someone is traveling against traffic. The project, now active near Mandan, Jamestown, and Fargo, is credited with saving lives — and now it could bring $10,000 to support transportation scholarships or local charities.
