Fatal Motorcycle Crash on North Dakota Highway 8

A fatal motorcycle crash occurred on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at approximately 8:10 p.m. on North Dakota Highway 8 near mile marker 177, north of Stanley. According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 2021 Indian Scout Motorcycle was traveling northbound when it left the roadway on a curve and vaulted over a field approach.
The impact of the crash broke apart the motorcycle, and the male driver from Bowbells sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities reported that the driver was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Road conditions were dry and weather conditions were clear at the time of the incident. The crash remains under investigation.
Agencies responding to the scene included the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Burke County Sheriff’s Office, Powers Lake Fire, Powers Lake Ambulance, and Stanley Ambulance.
