The North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) has dedicated resources to assist in the response and recovery efforts following a series of severe storms and tornados that impacted southeastern North Dakota on the evening of June 20, 2025. These storms caused widespread damage, including structural destruction and a tragic loss of life in the region.

Extreme winds from the storms resulted in multiple semis being overturned along Interstate 94 in Stutsman, Barnes, and Cass counties. Two semis were overturned near Eckelson Lake on westbound I-94 at mile marker 278, temporarily obstructing traffic. Both drivers were able to exit the semis without injury (photo attached to email).

Troopers responded immediately to ensure the safety of motorists, assist with traffic control, and support emergency services in the affected areas. NDHP remains actively engaged in ongoing recovery efforts and continues to coordinate with local and state agencies to support impacted communities.

Motorists are reminded to use caution when traveling in storm-damaged areas and to follow instructions from emergency personnel.
