Crude Spill Reported from Keystone Pipeline Near Ft. Ransom

BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ) was notified Tuesday of a malfunction in the Keystone Pipeline, operated by South Bow, that resulted in the release of an unknown volume of crude oil.
The pipeline was shut down immediately after the leak was discovered. The release is currently confined to an agricultural field located south of the associated pump station.
A small stream near the site has been isolated and remains unaffected at this time.
NDDEQ personnel are enroute and will continue to oversee ongoing remediation efforts. Additional information, including a volume estimate and extent of impact, will be sent as it becomes available.
